Our women’s empowerment, micro-business, and youth and peace building programs all work together with other HRI programs to equip beneficiaries with tools and empower them to take control of their futures through training, mentorship, leadership programs, and micro-loans to help them launch small kiosk businesses.
Today’s youth will be the next generation of leaders in their communities and nations. Youth growing up in highly impoverished and dangerous communities face a myriad of challenges including lack of prospective employment, lack of access to continued education and few productive activities. HRI youth programs combat this tragic reality and demonstrate there are attainable alternatives for youth. They benefit from life skills, leadership skills, and other activities. The goal is to prepare and empower a new generation of engaged citizens and leaders by capacitating and encouraging children and young adults to be active participants and drivers of positive change in their own homes and communities.

Our extensive experience working with children at high risk of mistreatment, abandonment, and exploitation (as well as with their families and communities) led HRI to make Child Protection a priority in our work. Our Child Protection programs are primarily centered around women’s empowerment initiatives which train, equip and inspire women to be the change they want to see in their lives.

HRI provides micro-enterprise training and loan opportunities to victims of economic insecurity in both urban and rural communities struck by extreme poverty, high rates of illiteracy, and areas with little to no sources of opportunity. The primary target population for these efforts are women - who are largely responsible for the well-being of the children - including their nutrition, health, and education. HRI also leads a micro-enterprise training program to equip orphaned and abandoned youth for success before they age out of the orphanages where they live.
